Venice of East - Udaipur |
Sometimes I wonder why there is a difference of lifestyle between generations. On one hand, we preserve and value it, spend a lot of money, fly across the continent and states, just to see how things were before. It leaves us with a feeling of amazement but why? If given a choice, would you go back in past and live in the times of kings and their kingdoms? Would you prefer to ride elephants instead of Uber amidst callousness of blaring horns? Would you go to bazaar filled with tangy scents of spices or rather sit on your couch and order online from Amazon, Flipkart etc.
Certainly, you cannot go back in past but you can most certainly visit Rajasthan. In Oct 2016, I along with three office colleagues of mine set our course towards the whimsical Udaipur. With a white and blank canvas in mind, I left behind the deadly routine of life with a hope to discover a new me.
We claim that we know ourselves and what we are capable of. Before we even realize we become captive of our own identities. Don’t ever settle with this thought else you will never be able to break free from the shackles of mediocrity and ignorance.
If anything that can give “Love at first sight” a meaning, It’s Venice of East - Udaipur. Sitting in the laps of lush green Aravali hills in the backdrop and surrounded by Pichola lake, Udaipur is a sight to behold. The city has been making headlines for big fat royal weddings time to time and is a popular wedding destination. Udaipur is known for its cultural vibrancy, gigantic Rajputana forts, ornate temples, mesmerizing architecture, serene lakes and sunrise.
The essence of Venice of East - Udaipur lies in its royal history and heritage. If you have Udaipur in your bucket list, make sure to visit these places and relive the royalty.

Due to lack of proper care and ignorance haveli was losing its charm. Realizing its cultural significance, In 1986 the control of Haveli was handed over to West Zone Cultural Centre. The experts of royal families stepped in and with a little bit of repair, haveli was transformed into a museum depicting the culture of Mewar.
