India is home to many mysterious places which are unexplainable and calls for exploration. These mysterious places in India have made headlines in the media from time to time and some of them have drawn a lot of attention from International media as well.
Growing up we heard stories, mythical lore about remains of warriors, saints and demons wandering around causing the unexplainable phenomenon. Following are top 5 mysterious places in India which will leave you stunned.
1. The whispers of the dead on the Duma Beach in Gujrat
The first place in the list of mysterious places in India is a beach. While beaches are popular for serenity and relaxation, Duma beach in South Gujrat is infamous for its notorious paranormal activities. Its black sand is mysterious to the extent that one can see it in broad daylight and yet cannot explain its cause of the occurrence. Locals speculate that the beach was used as a burial ground and the souls damned to hell escaped and roams around the beach at night and black sand is a sign of their territory. There are official reports of people missing who took a midnight stroll on the beach. Those who came back narrated that they heard whispers and sinister laughs. During the day, the beach is as normal as any other beach but around midnight it gives a creepy vibe, dogs behave differently and voice their distress by howling, barking and warning others not to go on the beach. It is a known fact that dogs can sense the presence of invisible energies.
2. The slithering Village in Maharashtra
It sends a chill down the spine for any regular person, at the sights of snakes but not in the Shetpal village of Maharashtra. It’s fascinating to see how such harmony exists between snakes and human that they live together like a family. Snakes like Cobra are known for its aggressiveness and make a person run for his life but in this village, there are no restrictions on the movement of snakes and they have a resting place in every home. Snakes crawling in homes, classrooms, school, playground, near toddlers are common sights. How would you feel about a snake living with you in your house? There is nothing Paranormal about it but it is still one of the mysterious places of India.
3. Khooni Nadi in Delhi
Although it’s not a Nadi (River), It’s just a stream. The mystery is that the depth of the stream is not deep enough for someone to drown in it, yet there is a high number of drowning accidents. Locals live in the fear and refrain from walking around the stream after sunset. It is believed that whosoever touches the water, loses their sanity and drowns himself in it. I don’t believe in it but it’s still a mystery how someone can drown in such shallow depth of a stream. It has become the talk of the town that the stream is possessed by the lonely souls and calls people to end their life and set them free from their loneliness. This one by far tops the chart of mysterious places in India for me.
4.The cursed town in Rajasthan
Kuldhara is a town in the deserts of Rajasthan, 20 km away from Jaisalmer. Broken houses with little to no vegetation and no signs of human life around it, the abandoned village Kuldhara. It has been like this for 200 years. Legend has it that 200 years ago the town was home to Paliwal Brahmins. The evil diwan of Jaisalmer set his eyes on a girl and threatened the villagers to hand over the girl or face the consequences. To escape from the wrath of the diwan, the whole town fled overnight and left behind the curse. It is believed that the village is haunted by evil spirits and no one dares to go even in broad daylight. Its one of the oldest mysterious places in India and what happened to those Paliwal Brahmins still remains a mystery.
