Boiled potato stuffed roll - I don't remember the name |
On the second day, I woke up early, and we met at the decided point, which was Belurusskaya station. At this point, I would like to give you a fun fact "Russians love potatoes", or maybe Elena is fond of potatoes 😂. Whatever she suggested or had me eat, guess what it had "boiled mashed potato stuffing"😄
Railway platform where I dropped my phone |
We bought train tickets and were waiting for our train. I again asked where we were going, and the answer I got didn't matter 😐. I couldn't pronounce the place's name, and it took me a day to get hold of its pronunciation. Before I tell you the place's name, let us take a second to mourn the unfortunate event when I dropped my 3 months old new iPhone X 😕. With blessings of the holy place we were about to visit, the screen guard of my phone escaped with not even a scratch 🤬 but my phone took a good hit, and it still has the scars from that day. It will be remembered as a black day. Although it did bring my travel spirit down, snowfall en route cheered me up as it was the first time I saw snowfall in my life.

The moment I laid my eyes on this place, I fell deep under the enchanting spell of Sergiev Posad. I had all those emotions never felt before coursing through my veins. Throughout our lives, we are told to go to college, get a white-collar job, buy a car, get home, get married and make a family. A place like this knocks out your whole perspective of life out of the window. It pushes you on a slippery slope into a life of wanderers, and before you know it, Travel becomes your drug.
Behold the beauty of the Spiritual Heart of Russia. Sergiev Posad is home to the marvellous Trinity Monastery of St. Sergius. It earned its place and is listed on The World Heritage List UNESCO. Sergiev Posad is a must-visit place in Russia. Although it doesn't matter whether you are interested in the history of Russian Orthodox churches, Sergiev Posad's beauty and serenity will fascinate you and leave an everlasting impression deep into your mind, heart, and soul. It's like Haridwar (India) for Orthodox Christians of Russia.

Sergiev Posad gives you a feel of the medieval era, surrounded by monks and beautiful artefacts. It has a lot of cafes as well. It was freezing cold, so we had herbal tea and dumplings and guess what was the filling inside ??

If you go to Moscow, you can easily visit this place. Sergiev Posad is just 2 hours away if you take the train. There is no entry fee. Not sure about the museum, but even if you don't visit the museum, there is plenty to explore. If you are visiting in winter, you don't worry about what to wear as Russian winter has a reputation for showing no mercy. You will be dressed like a stuffed bear anyway. In other weather, avoid ripped clothes and dress sensibly. I saw women covering their heads before walking into church, and men removed their hats and winter caps. People lit candles to make the wish and offered their prayers.
Around 4 pm, we took the train towards Moscow. During the whole time, we didn't speak at all. Not just us, but the whole bunch of people who boarded the train with us, were at peace. There was complete silence. Both of us sat quietly, lost in our own thoughts. A place like that does something to you. Maybe that's why people go there, looking for answers, finding peace, searching for a new beginning, finding hope, expressing desires, and seeking redemption. Yes, It's true. I started writing blogs only after visiting Sergiev Posad. Whether I am good or bad at this, it really doesn't matter. In the end, If you are visiting Moscow, please do yourself a favour and visit the spiritual heart of Russia - Sergiev Posad!
Nice...
